Em, forget football, how about Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Wayne Routledge and Shaun Maloney in a 4 x 100 relay.

Well, let’s have a shot…
GK - I think Friedel will be the usual starter, with Guzan coming out for the lighter weight opponents, and Taylor the backup.
Defence - At the moment Shorey and LYoung have to be just about automatic, I’d think (well, LYoung after the Icelandic matches.) In the centre, my impression is that Knight is the weakest, so I’d expect Laursen and Cuellar to the majority of the time, with Davies (when fit) their usual replacement.
Midfield - Assuming Barry stays, and no hot young starlet is imported, probably like last year with Sidwell replacing Petrov as the third starter. If those assumptions don’t hold, I dunno - it will depend on who’s available.
Forwards - The late-season system seemed to work very well, with AYoung roaming free behind Carew and Agbonlahor. I’d give Harewood some more starts, however - Carew in particular is always one moment away from injury, and like Friedel he should be preserved for stiffer opposition.

The Sun recently ran an interesting story pointing out that Villa are the only team that could realistically field an All-English starting XI. It’s good to see that appreciated by the mainstream media, and I’m already noticing my bandwagon-jumping friends hop on Villa express (should I be pissed off at this? - for some reason it annoys me).
My lineup would be -
Friedel
L Young, Cuellar, Laursen, Bouma
Routledge, Reo Coker, Barry, A Young
Agbonglahor, HarewoodPosted from

too easy…my 11 is (4-4-2):
salifou–salifou, salifou, salifou, salifou,–salifou, salifou, salifou, salifou,–salifou, salifou.

Agbonlahor Carew
A.Young Routledge
Petrov Barry
Shorey Cuellar Laursen L.Young
Friedel
Captaincy to either Laursen, Petrov or Barry(even through this stupid transfer saga i think he’ll stay)
I think Maloney and Harewood will come off the bench to strenghen the attack. I think Reo-Coker,Sidwell,Davies and Knight would fill in when needed. Bouma will compete for his place when he returns from injury. The youth will be given runs in parts of the season but won’t compete for spots just yet.Posted from

I like the sound of that line-up Mark, very attacking. I wouldn’t like to see it against Chelsea but it’d be good to trial against Stoke this weekend
