UD Marbella 0-2 Aston Villa

By: Martini Extra Dry | August 9th, 2008

If you weren’t already aware, Villa have been on a training camp in Spain, and finished the trip with a game against the Spanish side, UD Marbella.

UD Marbella play in the third tier of Spanish football and have two strikers who have plyed their trade in the West Midlands in the past. Carl Cort played for Wolves until last year and Tommy Mooney played for Birmingham City from 2001 to 2003 and even started his career at the Villa, though he never made any appearances for us.

Villa ran out comfortable winners thanks to two first half goals from Villans eager to impress O’Neill and worm their way into the first team; Craig Gardner and Nathan Delfouneso. Both these lads have played well in all the pre-season friendlies and are determined to give O’Neill selection headaches when the season kicks off in a couple of weeks.
