The Continuing Story Of Bareth Garry (9th July update)
By: Martini Extra Dry | July 9th, 2008The whole saga of Gareth Barry’s future continues to wrangle on, with Villa and Liverpool still unable to reach an agreement and Barry still banned from Villa training. Recent events seem to suggest a light at the end of the tunnel getting close now, as the two teams begin to act less hostile towards each other.
Liverpool’s offer of £15 million last week has been more civilly responded to by Villa, who replied with a letter stating that they would be willing to accept £17 million plus Steve Finnan (Funny isn’t it how we talk of these people as if they were just gambling chips!).
O’Neill has spoken out, saying that he has no idea how this will all pan out now and whether ‘Pool will accept the offer. But it does seem obvious now that Barry is definitely going, as MON has already spoken out on the subject of a new captain.
Let’s hope Rafa sees sense and puts this all to bed once and for all now.
I didn’t want Barry to leave but as he’s made it so obvious he wants to go, it’s better sorted out, sooner rather than later, so that we can move on and concentrate on players coming in.

So Barry’s punishment for being a bit of a prick and leaving the club he captains in the lurch, is that he doesn’t have to come into work, but is still paid? Crazy.

Haha, yeah kind of, but he has been docked 2 weeks pay, so he doesn’t get it quite that easy.
