Villa 4 - 2 Man City
Villa have got off to a flying start by beating Man City 4 - 2 at home, goals coming from Carew and a hatrick from Gabriel Agbonlahor, in less than ten minutes.
The first half saw no goals but Villa soon broke the deadlock in the second half when Carew headed Ashley Young’s cross home to give Villa the lead. Fifteen minutes later Villa gave away a penalty when Young brought down Johnson (a rumoured Villa transfer target) and Elano buried it to make it all square.
But 5 minutes later good old Gabby volleyed home to give Villa the lead again and within 7 minutes he was the day’s hat-trick hero. Gareth Barry set up Agbon twice in three minutes to give Villa the three points. Corluka gave City a lifeline in the last minute of normal time but ultimately it was just a consolation goal.
With only Chelsea outdoing us on the opening day, Villa sit nicely in second place in the Premier League. It makes very nice viewing, enjoy it while it lasts.

Great day. Petrov was superb, and Gabby scored a perfect hat-trick. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ashley Young is a magician.

A great start to the season. Started it we finished the last with free scoring games. However, we need to tighten the back up. Far too many times MC got the run on us and looked dangerous.
However, Man City have always been one of our bogie sides (especially in the FA cup!), so its nice to see us thrash the pants off them and add to their worries.
