QPR in the Carling Cup
By: Martini Extra Dry | August 30th, 2008
It’s a busy time for hats at the minute, with draws going on left, right and centre. Next up is the Carling Cup and Villa have been drawn at home against Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
QPR are managed by Iain Dowie and as a really interested side note, my foam company has just supplied new foam for one of their stands. You won’t get to sit in my luxurious product though unless we draw at home and need a replay.
Again this should be an easy win for Villa, but that certainly doesn’t always ring true. Anyone remember being thrashed by Doncaster and beaten by Leicester in the cup in recent years?
The game is the week between our UEFA Cup games so it’s a good thing we now have strength in numbers at Villa. My guess is this game (QPR) will see a slightly more second string side play.
The Carling Cup is sometimes a distraction from the Prem but it is also a good chance for teams of our standard to win some silverware.

QPR will be far from a walkover- this wouldn’t even be classed a potential banana skin – Villa will need to play to their full potential to win this tie. They seem incapable of doing that against teams they should beat.
