Portsmouth up tomorrow and revenge will be sweet
By: Martini Extra Dry | October 17th, 2008
Last November we won every single game, making a month’s total haul of four games, four wins, eleven goals scored and just the one conceded. After this glorious November, followed a suck-ass December. We lost two and drew three before finally rediscovering winning ways on the 29th away to Wigan. Of those two losses, both at home, one was forgivable as it was Arsenal but the Portsmouth game really hurt. We thought we could take them and we played attacking football but ended up getting stung 3 times and only replied once (a Barry penalty, earned when Distin sliced down a stampeding Ashley Young).
What will happen in tomorrow’s rematch of that disappointment? I’m preciting a Villa win. Portsmouth are playing very inconsistently this season, one week they thump Everton 3-0 and another they suffer a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Man City. One a look at the table and their inconsistency is immediately obvious; they sit in seventh place but with a minus four goal difference.
Villa go into the game knowing full well how to beat them. Keep Crouch and Defoe well marked and capitalise on defensive frailties.
We can win this game, we just need to believe it and play like we believe it.
