Gareth Barry’s transfer - I’m freaking bored of this now!
By: Martini Extra Dry | August 9th, 2008
Are they just doing this to try and get Villa to drop the price or are really as indecisive as they seem up at Liverpool. The latest rumbling is that the American owners are not prepared to pay Villa’s asking price, after previously saying they were. I guess when it comes to American owners, Villa got the good one!
Today’s papers are pretty much all engulfed with the story of Gareth Barry’s transfer to Liverpool’s latest twist in the tale (except the Daily Mail, which reports that we are front runners for Roque Santa Cruz - fingers crossed on that one Villa fans). Apparently, Liverpool’s owners are now refusing to pay Villa’s asking price, despite having previously said they would.
The merry-go-round saga now looks even more uncertain of an outcome, if that’s possible. Gillett and Hicks are concerned about Barry’s re-sale value when his contract ends and at the need for Barry when Xabi Alonso still remains a Liverpool player. The Guardian has described the transfer’s to’s and fro’s as ‘farcical’ and I couldn’t agree more.
Martin O’Neill, has tried as best he can to get this resolved one way or another but Liverpool don’t seem to be playing ball. Barry will be collecting his bus pass before Liverpool finally make a decision on this, by the looks of it!
