England squad named
By: Martini Extra Dry | October 5th, 2008
Fabio Capello has tonight announced his 23 man squad for the games against Kazakhstan and Belarus and the only Villan to make the cut is Gareth Barry. No place for Ashley Young again and I know now for a fact that I’m not the only one who finds this hard to believe.
I read a lot of football journalism and have been pleased to see so many people insisting that Young deserves a chance and what better time for that to come than when the number one left winger is injured. But still no joy for Ashley. He must be wondering what he’s got to do to make it.
Fair enough, his performance today, in front of Capello, was not a good example but surely Capello watches his potential squadsmen more than just the once before deciding upon them. Young is having an excellent season and is fully deserved of a place in the squad if not the team.
Shaun Wright-Phillips is back in the squad, which I agree with, but I’m still adamant that Young is better than Downing and also Jenas, who recently is not showing anything close to his form of last season. Even Nigel Reo-Coker is way more deserved of a place than Jenas.
Oh well, I’ll just go on supporting England no matter what and hoping that Villa players will eventually get the rewards for their hard work… someday.

i’m a firm believer that Fabio knows best but to leave Ashley Young out? seems like madness to me ..
