Don’t believe everything you read

Villa are about to spend £30 million on one player!
Well, thats if you believe what half of the papers are reporting today.
The truth of the matter is that Randy Lerner’s crony, General Charles Krulak, has spoken to the press and they’ve twisted his words into a more exciting story, in that way that tabloids like doing. Krulak was quizzed on Villa’s recent quietness in the transfer market and he said: “Randy has told Martin to get the players he wants and not worry about the money. If Martin came to Randy and said ‘I need £30m for player x’ and the player would fit into what we are trying to do, Randy would have his cheque-book out before Martin could get past the player’s name. Randy has never said ‘no’ to Martin.”
All Krulak was doing was denying the newspaper speculation that O’Neill had been told to stop spending. So sorry Villa fans, we won’t be lodging a bid for Steven Gerrard or Wayne Rooney or Frank Lampard. Sadly. Maybe next year.
We are however still getting our fingers stuck in and looking for reinforcements to bolster our small squad. Defenders being the main priorities.
