Milner joins Villa
By: Martini Extra Dry | August 29th, 2008
After much speculation of an imminent move, James Milner has now put pen to paper and officially joined Aston Villa. The deal was nearly done two years ago, after he spent a successful year on loan, but at the last minute the deal fell through and Milner returned to Newcastle.
Villa continue their onslaught on the transfer market with, what is believed to be, a £10 million capture and it’s yet another English player. Despite being Irish himself, O’Neill has shown a huge eagerness to sign English talent, and Villa are now miles ahead in the stakes of home nation players.
Newcastle’s fans will not be happy about this news, with many a rumbling being uttered by fans and board and manager alike, causing a very unsettled atmosphere up on Tyneside. Keegan will have a job on his hands to keep everyone happy this year, unless they unexpectedly have a great season.
Villa will now be unstoppable on the flanks, with Milner and Young, making our attacking game even more formiddable. Tightening up at the back is our primary concern now. The players of quality have been brought in but the back four has yet to settle, hopefully that will change sooner rather than later.
