Apparently Barry is staying

By: Martini Extra Dry | July 30th, 2008

Gareth Barry will be remaining with Aston Villa next season and presumably continuing as captain. This revelation comes right from the horses mouth; The Aston Villa website.

An official statement has been put up on the Villa website, so presumably it can be trusted. What isn’t stated is Barry’s feelings about all this, whether he is happy to remain at Villa, because if he isn’t then there’s not much point him being there. Unsettled players have never been known for their 100% all-out performances.

Liverpool’s feelings are also missing from the statement, coming only a day after Rafa Benitez stated that he IS still persuing Barry, he just needs to sell to raise the cash.

It’ll be interesting to hear what Barry and Liverpool come out and say in response to this unexpected statement.
