Aggy fires home England U21 derby winner

England U21’s tonight faced the Welsh U21 side in the first of a two-leg play-off to reach the UEFA Under-21 Championships. The first leg was at Ninian Park and the return leg is on Tuesday at Villa Park. England won the game 3-2 to take a nice lead and three away goals into the home leg.
It was Wales who opened the scoring with Reading’s Simon Church scoring in the first 15 minutes. Their lead didn’t last long though, Middlesbrough’s David Wheater rising to the occasion to level the score. Ten minutes left in the half and another Middlesbrough man, Adam Johnson, gave Stuart Pearce’s men the advantage but just on the stroke of half time, Church was their again to make his brace and bring the game back level.
The game was decided when Mark Noble broke and put a good ball to Agbonlahor who was in the right place to score the winner.
Let’s hope Gareth Barry can have a similar influence tomorrow for the senior side.
Come on England!
