VILLA 2-2 Arsenal: Wenger talks bollocks, men in white coats patiently wait for him to crack
By: Chris | December 27th, 2008They came, they saw, they shit themselves.
Arsenal were terrified of us from the first whistle to the last yesterday. Bacary Sagna couldn’t handle Ashley Young and William Gallas couldn’t get near Gabby Agbonlahor all evening. Leaving Villa Park with a point was Arsenal’s very own Christmas miracle after a game which showed that Arsene Wenger has bollocksed his attempts to rebuild and will never win the title again at Arsenal.
Villa were better from beginning to end, and Arsenal’s fortune in achieving a 2-0 lead was staggering. We should have been 4-0 up at half time. Steve Sidwell, Curtis Davies and James Milner hit the woodwork. Luke Young’s deflected shot brought a good save from time-wasting tosser Manuel Almunia, and Davies missed an absolute sitter.
Before half time, Arsenal had one shot. Denilson got far too much space, 1-0. After half time, they had one more shot. Abou Diaby was played through by Emmanuel Eboue, 2-0. If ever there was a footballing injustice, that was it.
Robin Van Persie took a few seconds out from moaning and diving to miss a golden chance to seal the game, and from there it was all about the Villa fight back – and the disgraceful petulant attitude of whichever lunatic has killed Arsene Wenger and now resides in his wizened old body.
Gabriel Agbonlahor provided the turning point, skinning mentally challenged defender William Gallas and forcing the Frenchman (one of many, natch) to bring him down inside the area. Regardless of what Wenger said – what a wanker he is, by the way – it was a definite penalty. With the pressure on, skipper-for-the-day Gareth Barry thumped in a real captain’s penalty.
I never thought it would happen, but Barry’s well on the road to my good books again.
A few more chances came and went, but the crucial moment came in stoppage time, when Zat Knight (playing up front for the last 10 minutes) controlled the ball in the Arsenal area and thundered in a left footed shot to earn a draw. In reality, we deserved a win. Better team by a country mile. Anybody who thinks otherwise should stop watching football. There’s a new big four, move over Arsenal.
Now then…Arsene Wenger.
Wenger is trying to play the football previously played by Bergkamp, Henry, Overmars, Ljungberg and Pires. But he’s doing it with Van Persie, Adebayor, Walcott and Bendtner. He doesn’t have the players, and the reason he doesn’t have the players is that he has failed to buy them. In short, he’s f*cked it.
His behaviour yesterday was utterly disgraceful. He kicked off on the touchline after our definite penalty was scored, squaring up to Martin O’Neill like a bloody schoolboy. After the game, he ludicrously claimed his awful side could have “scored five”. He now believes Arsenal dropped points because John Robertson somehow influenced the referee at half time.
The sooner he gets sectioned, the better for everyone. Filth.

“Wenger is trying to play the football previously played by Bergkamp, Henry, Overmars, Ljungberg and Pires. But he’s doing it with Van Persie, Adebayor, Walcott and Bendtner.”
Bang on, son. I wish we could play them every week.

I was going to reply after reading the first para but then realised you are the usual single sighted moron who cannot put an intelligent arguement together preferring to rely on childish insults. No wonder you support a team that hasn’t won anything for … well I can’t remember, how many years – please, enlighten me.

can you say fanboy? did we watch the same game?

@ Farmer – I suggest you read around the insults, you’ll find an argument related to Wenger failing to buy the players to play the football of previous teams he created. In short, he’s stuck in the past. “Villan” has kindly provided a synopsis for you.
As for childish insults, if you read the title and didn’t see them coming, you probably visit the same optician as your club’s manager.
@ haha – Fanboy. If you check the URL box at the top of your browser, you’ll notice that this is Villa Offside. Perhaps http://arsenal.theoffside.com would be a more appropriate site for you to visit. Travis is a decent blogger and has done his own match report, but I don’t think you’ll like his tone if you think I’m wrong about how the game went.
We did watch the same game. Thing is, I watched it from the stadium – not from the other side of the world. Every neutral and pundit has said Villa battered Arsenal. Maybe you were watching a different game after all. Obviously the ‘big four’ nonsense still rules the armchair supporters in the States.
@ Any other Arsenal fans on here to bitch – Arsene Wenger showed a total lack of class following last night’s game. That is a FACT. That Arsenal fans support him despite him clearly losing his marbles is not exactly a surprise. He’s making you look stupid.

Another well-written piece, cheers.

Spot on chris! Couldn’t agree with you more. Villa deserved all 3 points in this one. And Arsenal are just scared of mid-table mediocrity.

@ Drew / Phoenix – don’t get me wrong, I know I’ve put forward the Villa view (and fired up the famous Arsenal bitterness), but I genuinely think we were far better than them yesterday.

Chris-
A draw yesterday was a miracle for us. Any rational fan of Arsenal cannot argue that we deserved three points yesterday. Simply a huge stroke of luck. I’m no Arsenal diehard – hence this sort of reaction – and while I won’t agree with everything you say about Arsene, I had the same thoughts while I watched the game yesterday. Wenger is trying to play the same way he has in the past with the players who lack the skill. And again, it’s because he hasn’t bought anyone, save one skilled frenchman and another Man United castoff. The fact that Arsenal was in position to win was a near miracle. As an American/big Brad Friedel fan, I enjoy seeing Villa succeed – except perhaps at the expense of Arsenal.
Cue Arsenal fans bashing me. I’m just trying to be objective. Great write up as well.

Hey Travis, thanks for checking in.
I know I’m hyper-critical of Wenger – I’m simply arguing the case for my club. I think his accusation and his general conduct were unacceptable, and as a Villa fan I reserve the right to call him what I like based on him basically aiming the same sort of unwarranted criticism at Villa.
If I were an Arsenal fan, I’d be hugely embarrassed by the way Wenger has behaved in the last 24 hours.
I enjoyed your match report too. I actually quite like Arsenal, I visit the Emirates a few times a season with a mate. Stylish football, but when Bergkamp and Henry etc are missing, the substance isn’t always there.
RVP is a bit special though, I like the cut of his jib.

Don’t get upset when people talk crap after you trash their team. It’s blow back, just rolllllll with it =).

Agreed, Villa deserved all 3. I’m trying to decide whether to be excited they came back to get the tie, or disappointed they didn’t get the win as deserved.
On the Arsenal points, I though Sagna had a fine day, highlighted by the overhead clearance off the line. And Van Persie has loads of talent, even if it doesn’t always show up. And he doesn’t exactly hold the monopoly on whining!
