The Final Countdown

Well, this is it. We have 1 game left to gain entry into Europe for next season. If Everton draw and we beat the hammers then 5th place is ours. At worst Villa can finish 8th but if we win the game the lowest we can finish is 6th which is entry into the Intertoto Cup. That is an easy passage to the Uefa Cup proper although we would have to start the season much earlier. Olof Mellberg will play his last game for Villa before moving on to Juve. I have to thank Olof for his contribution over the past few years. He was a fantastic player and its unfortunate that we could not have persuaded him to stay. We have a full squad to choose from and after the hiccup against Wigan last week I would not be surprised if we see some changes. West Ham have nothing to play for which is an advantage to us. It doesn’t matter how we do it tomorrow but we MUST win. Our squad is not big enough to compete in Europe next season but if we do qualify, I am sure that Martin O’Neill will add enough depth to the squad so that we are not too stretched.

Come on the Villa!

Prediction: 2-1 Villa with Barry and Gabby netting.

i don’t think that’s right. everton is 3 points up, if they draw, villa cannot get 5th.
