Round 29: Boro @ Villa Park
By: irish_steve | March 12th, 2008Martin O’Neill has called this week “massive” as Villa play Boro at home tomorrow and travel to Portsmouth on the weekend. Villa have come off another long break, giving up a last minute goal at the Emirates in a game they should have won 11 days ago. Villa are still chasing 4th place but 6th looks a more realistic goal. Villa are currently 8 points behind Everton and Liverpool who look to be in a 2 horse race for 4th. But if Villa keep winning and keep the pressure on, anything can happen.
Gabby had a brilliant game against Arsenal last time out but he has yet to score in 2008. Look for him to break that streak against a Boro team coming off a humiliating loss to Cardiff in the FA Cup Semi’s over the weekend. Curtis Davies is out for the season which is a massive loss but Zat Knight is more than capable of coming in and filling in the gap. Petrov has not been involved in the last 2 games and will most likely be on the bench again. Boro are still not safe from relegation and will be looking to take at least a point but Villa should do the business today.
Prediction: 1-0 Villa with Super Gabby getting the winner.

Barcelona is claimed to be interested in Sorensen. Can somebody tell me why he is only third (?) choice in Aston Villa right now?

Thats a good question. Martin O’Neill doesnt rate him apparently. He wanted to leave in January but Villa wouldnt let him go.

That’s a strange reasoning from the club: your manager doesn’t want him, his contract expires in June (meaning he could leave for free then), and you don’t want to let him go?
What do the fans think about it, they agree with O’Neill’s decision?
