ASTON “Lucky” VILLA 0-0 Wigan: 12-man Wigan get a point
By: Chris |Today could have been much worse if I’m being honest. Aston Villa lacked a cutting edge up front and Wigan Athletic could easily have nicked a goal with their impressive play on the break. Meanwhile, at the Emirates, Arsenal couldn’t make us pay. Manchester United did us a favour too, beating Everton at Old Trafford.
But [...]

Villa’s win on Tuesday shot us right back into the title race, but the fight for fourth is a more realistic aim. The quest continues at home as former Small Heath boss Steve Bruce brings his bulldog-chewing-a-wasp face and Wigan Athletic side to [...]
Carew makes the squad, Stieber moves on, Laursen quits
By: Chris |Hungarian midfielder Zoltan Stieber has left Villa Park for 2. Bundesliga outfit TuS Koblenz. The 20 year old moves to Germany in the season he would have been hoping to make his Premier League bow.
Stieber has fallen behind Barry Bannan in the pecking order at Aston Villa. I wish him well in the future.
Meanwhile, Villa [...]
Portsmouth 0-1 VILLA: Heskey bags debut goal
By: Chris |Winning three points and going third in the Premier League made visiting the crappest ground in the League more than worthwhile.
Aston Villa put in a decent enough shift. We were very good in the first half and were unlucky not to be in a comfortable lead by half time. New signing Emile Heskey roared off [...]

Villa disappoint in FA Cup – Merseyside next up
By: Chris |I know little about Aston Villa’s goalless draw with Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday, and I have no desire to learn any more. There simply is no excuse for not beating teams in divisions below. I will not be attending the replay, thereby missing my first home game – cup [...]
Laursen out (temporarily) and Heskey in (permanently)
By: Chris |It’s typical, vintage Villa: bugger all news in 23 days of the transfer window, and then a flurry of activity out of the blue.
Laursen ruled out for 8 weeks
Aston Villa skipper Martin Laursen has unfortunately succumbed to his knee injury and the club has confirmed that the big Dane is out for two months following [...]

During three years of hell under pug-nosed deluded devilspawn David O’Leary, the worst moment was a 3-0 hammering at the hands of lower league Doncaster Rovers. We weren’t outfought by plucky underdogs – we were taken to football school. Facing [...]
Johnny Dixon passes away
By: Chris |Johnny Dixon, Aston Villa’s 1957 FA Cup winning captain, has passed away aged 85.
Johnny, who had been battling against Alzheimers disease, played over 400 games for Villa and lifted the Cup after the famous Final victory over Manchester United. He died in a care home in Tamworth, Staffordshire.
Johnny Dixon. December 10, 1923 – January 20, [...]
Carew, Bouma, and Donny Rovers
By: Chris |Greetings, Villans.
Villa news has been bubbling along for the last couple of days – I think it’s time for a quick update.
Doncaster progress to face Villa
Firstly, Doncaster Rovers hosted Cheltenham Town in their FA Cup 3rd Round replay last night and it sounds like they absolutely demolished them. Rovers won 3-0 to set up a [...]
